Friday calls for a quick yet delicious meal to wrap up the day. Tuna patties are the perfect solution when you want something simple, protein-packed, and fresh. Paired with tzatziki, you get a dish that works just as well as a main course or as a snack for sharing.
The preparation couldn’t be easier: mix canned tuna with a few basic ingredients, shape into patties, and pan-fry until golden. The tzatziki, made with yogurt, cucumber, and garlic, adds that refreshing Mediterranean touch that balances everything out beautifully.
This recipe is also perfect for days when you don’t feel like complicating things – the patties are ready in under 30 minutes, and the tzatziki comes together in minutes. A light yet satisfying meal for a Friday lunch or dinner.
Recipe – Tuna Patties with Tzatziki
Ingredients (serves 2)
-
2 cans of tuna in water (about 320 g drained)
-
1 egg
-
3 tbsp breadcrumbs
-
2 tbsp chopped parsley
-
1 tbsp grated parmesan
-
salt and pepper to taste
-
olive oil for frying
For the tzatziki
-
200 g Greek yogurt
-
1 small cucumber
-
1 clove garlic
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
juice of 1/2 lemon
-
salt and pepper to taste
-
dill (optional)
Instructions
-
Drain the tuna well and mash it with a fork in a large bowl.
-
Add the egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, and parmesan. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until a compact mass forms.
-
Shape into small patties. If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs.
-
Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
-
Grate the cucumber, sprinkle with salt, and let sit for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess water.
-
Mix yogurt, cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and dill. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Serve the patties with fresh tzatziki and a slice of lemon.
💡 Tip: For a lighter version, bake the patties in the oven at 190 °C (375 °F) for 15 minutes instead of frying.
